Hendrick Automotive Group Contributes to NCM Motorsports Park; Track Designer Hired

The National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park project recently got a major boost.  NASCAR great, Rick Hendrick, through the Hendrick Automotive Group, is making a $100,000 contribution to the NCM Motorsports Park. As owner of Hendrick Motorsports, his teams have collected 10 Sprint Cup Series Championships and over 200 NASCAR victories. While Rick knows racing, he is also a great friend to the National Corvette Museum with a real interest in the Motorsports Park as a recreational and educational facility.

“The National Corvette Museum celebrates an American original and one of the most iconic cars ever made,” said Rick Hendrick, chairman of Hendrick Automotive Group and owner of NASCAR’s Hendrick Motorsports. “Racing is in the Corvette DNA, so the addition of the Motorsports Park is an exciting next step for the NCM facility. Being associated with the track’s message of education and safety is something we’re proud of, and we look forward to taking some laps when it’s completed. The Museum is already a very special place for Corvette and racing enthusiasts, and this new project will grow that reputation even more.”

Museum Executive Director, Wendell Strode, is thankful for the support and all that it means.  “We are grateful for this generous contribution and thrilled by what this donation represents. In other exciting news, Steve Crawford has been selected as the park’s track designer. Steve’s first track opened nearly 40 years ago, and since then he has designed the Thunderhill Motorsports Park in Willows, CA and more recently, The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA.

“We were immediately impressed by Steve’s initiative while still in the interview phase,” said Wendell. “He had already started coming up with sketches as soon as he saw the layout of the land that we had to work with. He was on board from the beginning with the idea of working with Corvette Racing to build in features from Le Mans, Watkins Glen and the Nurburgring.”

With the uniqueness of the track and special features recommended by Corvette Racing designed into it, the track can be used as a test facility for all of the American Le Mans and Grand Am teams. The possibility of some NASCAR teams using it for road course practice has also been discussed.

In addition to the track design and facilities, the close proximity to hotels, restaurants, shopping and such is also appealing to motorsports enthusiasts.

Steve plans to have the track design finished by the end of the year. He will then work with the Museum’s local civil engineering firm, DDS Engineering, to prepare bid documents for the track – a process which is expected to take two to three months to complete. Bid packages should be ready by the end of the first quarter of 2013.

“Of course, continued fundraising is the key issue that will influence whether we send those bid packages out and have our ground breaking in time for the Bash,” said Wendell.  “At this point we are still confident that this will happen but need individuals and clubs to keep the momentum going with donations of any amount. We had six new participants step forward to take part in our Buy an Acre Campaign during our last event. Each time someone steps up to do this, whether it is an individual, a club or organization, it not only gives us the ability to move forward financially, but it also shows prospective sponsors something about how much the Corvette community wants this track to happen. You built this world-class Museum, so your support of this track is a powerful endorsement to potential sponsors,” he added.

Rick Hendrick Chevrolet teams up with Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA to help raise thousands of dollars for youth soccer program

 

Duluth/Buford, Sept. 5, 2012 – In the spirit of teamwork taught by youth sports, Rick Hendrick Chevrolet is teaming up with Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA to provide their players and coaches with soccer kits filled with equipment bags, pop-up nets, sport cones, scrimmage vests, t-shirts, a sponsorship check and an opportunity to help them raise funds.

 

Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA will have the opportunity to raise as much as $10,000 through a fundraising opportunity where one lucky recipient will win his or her choice of a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox or Cruze. Another lucky winner will receive a Home Entertainment Package.

 

Rick Hendrick Chevrolet and other Atlanta area Chevrolet dealerships are donating these prizes to participating leagues in the area. One-hundred percent of the proceeds collected from the fundraiser go directly to the leagues. The funds may be used in any way the league chooses. 

 

A one-time sponsorship check will be presented by Rick Hendrick Chevrolet to Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA. The league also will have an opportunity to raise additional funds for their use as part of a Chevy Youth Soccer Fundraiser.  Sponsored leagues across the country will each receive 2,000 fundraiser entry tickets to distribute for a suggested donation, and the league will keep 100% of the proceeds raised.  At the end of the fundraiser, there will be four winners of a Chevy Equinox or Chevy Cruze vehicle of choice (up to $24,995 in value), and in each participating market there will be a secondary prize of a home entertainment center valued at $1,000.

 

Some leagues plan to grant scholarships to families who cannot afford to enroll their children in the league, while others will use the funds to improve fields and equipment.

  It was a joy meeting you and I can’t thank you enough for showing me the ropes with me new Equinox and setting up my On-Star and Bluetooth.  As I had mentioned to you on Saturday…I have a pretty neat testimony about Hendrick’s Chevrolet.

Hendrick’s Chevrolet has my permission to use this testimony…..

Before test driving a car at a nearby competitor in Lawrenceville (Hayes Dodge/Chrysler) I told the salesman that this was my first place to start but that I wouldn’t consider buying a car from them until I went to Rick Hendrick’s Chevrolet and after that I would make a decision.  During my test drive with a third car, the second I turned the radio on to hear the sound system in the car…there was a commercial for Hendrick’s Chevrolet and that they had the best deals and all the while my salesman was clearing his throat loudly!  After the test drive we went in to see what they would allow on my car for a trade-in.  Sadly (at the time) they offered a ridiculous trade in value for my car.  I told the finance guy that this was an unacceptable amount and that if they could reconsider the amount, we might could do business.  Each time I pulled in the parking lot after test driving each car…I made a comment each time to my salesman that it was very uncomfortable when I pulled back onto the lot and each and every sales person was just sitting on a bench..about total and they ALL had eyes on me.  I told the sales man its said they don’t have anything better to do with their time!  Well,  4 1/2 hours later I received a voice mail from Hayes and they said they would give me an additional $2500 more for my car than they originally had told me.  A few minutes later, I receive a text message from them stating that they were going to give me what I was asking for.  Immediately I responded to them and said…sorry but its too late, Hendricks has blessed me with a trade in value $4,000 more dollars than you originally were going to give me and the sale papers are being written up right now.   Less than 5 minutes go by and they’re calling me again for my business to say they can work with me.  Once again…I said “it’s too late….I just bought the first car that I test drove with Hendrick’s and they kindly gave me more than I was even asking for for the trade in value!

This was my first purchase from Hendricks.  After having the “red carpet” spread out before me as I’m going to test drive the beautiful Chevy Equinox, the car was sitting there with vallet parking and the knowledgeable salesperson “Tonna” had given me the introduction to the car’s safety features before I even stepped into the car …I was sold on Hendrick’s!  When returning from the test drive….all the salesman were so busy helping other customers that there was no one sitting on a bench starring at me when I drove back onto the lot!   Just when I thought it  couldn’t get any better, it continued to climb!  Each employee all round us were being so helpful and not just “pointing” to the restrooms but walking you right to the door and asking if they could go get a sandwich for you while you wait for the finance guy and bringing you bottles of water…I was amazed!  I was so impressed that I couldn’t wait to right this testimony…which I never compliment to this extent…Hendrick’s Chevrolet….YOU’RE THE BEST!!

‘2012 Indy Dream Weekend’ Sweepstakes to Coincide with HendrickCars.com Re-Launch

CHARLOTTE, N.C., February 13, 2012HendrickCars.com will sponsor three NASCAR teams in select races in early 2012. The sponsorships will promote the new-look retail automotive website, which re-launched Feb. 1, and coincide with the HendrickCars.com “2012 Indy Dream Weekend” sweepstakes.

 

The program will kick off during Speedweeks in Daytona Beach, Fla., with primary sponsorship of Phoenix Racing and 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Kurt Busch in the Feb. 25 Nationwide Series race and Feb. 26 Daytona 500. It will continue with primary sponsorship of JR Motorsports and driver Cole Whitt in the March 17 Nationwide event at Bristol, Tenn.

 

In addition, HendrickCars.com will be a major associate sponsor of the Richard Childress Racing No. 33 Chevrolet with driver Elliott Sadler in NASCAR’s biggest race, the Daytona 500.

 

In conjunction with the sponsorship, HendrickCars.com is launching the “2012 Indy Dream Weekend” sweepstakes. From Feb. 13 through March 19, visitors can log onto HendrickCars.com to register for a chance to win a weekend for two at the July 29 Sprint Cup race in Indianapolis. The winner and a guest will receive behind-the-scenes access, a tour of the historic racing venue, VIP seats in a trackside suite and more. The winner will be announced March 23 at www.HendrickCars.com.

 

Features of the new HendrickCars.com include streamlined navigation, an expanded offering of used cars and the addition of thousands of new vehicles.
